The desire to control.
Through clothes, restricting social interaction, management behaving in ways that are untrustworthy. Spoiler: it’s so much more prevalent in the public sector than the private sector, in my experience. I’m not sure what it is. It feels like a lack of trust. And an inability to empower. And hierarchy.
In particular the way people speak to each other, when one person is lower down on the hierarchical totem pole, has been quick a shock. In teams where different professions work together to build a thing, I don’t even know how that works effectively.
